It is rare these days that I meet with a bride where she doesn't pull up her Pinterest boards to show me her ideas.
I LOVE IT. Pinterest, you have made my job as a hair and makeup artist infinitely easier! I love being able to get an overall birds eye view of each bride's likes and preferences so I can get a good idea of what she wants. It's a process that used to take a lot of getting to know you and Q&A, and hair magazines have always left a lot to be desired when it comes to wearable, current looks.
But did you know that I also keep a file of Pinterest boards? Any time I see a hairdo or a makeup look that I think a bride would like, I pin it. Granted, I only pin photos that I like too - but I think this is also a great tool for brides when deciding whether to hire me or not. After all, if we don't have the same taste, we may not be the best fit for each other.
I also created one little odd ball board called "What kind of bride are you?" I've pinned several photos of brides here (not necessarily MY brides) an captioned them with their bride "personalities" - like "whimsical bride", "youthful bride", "sexy bride", etc. This is a great tool for me to have a bride pick out a few photos that she most identifies herself with. It's just another added tool that helps me get to know a bride quickly and be able to better pinpoint what look she is going want for herself.
And last but not least, I've pinned some of my favorite tutorials as well as the 2-3 tutorials I've posted myself (I know - pathetic that I haven't done more, not for lack of wanting just lack of time!)
